Apsession is an event discovery platform that helps users find local events, nightlife experiences, and activities. The platform relies on timely and accurate event information to keep listings relevant and useful for its audience. 

As event information is frequently published across social media, collecting and organizing that data manually can be time-consuming and difficult to scale. Apsession needed an automated solution capable of identifying event-related content, extracting key details, and transforming unstructured social media posts into structured event data that could be used across the platform. 

Instagram contains a large volume of event-related content, but most of that information exists within images, flyers, stories, and posts with no consistent structure. Valuable opportunities were often difficult to identify and even harder to organize into a usable format.

An AI-powered event discovery platform was developed to automate event detection, information extraction, and lead generation workflows. 

AI-Powered Event Detection 

Google Gemini Vision was used to analyze Instagram posts and stories and identify event-related content directly from promotional flyers and images. 

The system extracts key event information including event names, dates, venues, categories, contact details, and ticket information. 

Event Data Processing 

Extracted information is validated, standardized, and prepared for lead generation workflows. 

Duplicate detection logic was implemented to prevent repeated event entries and improve overall data quality before records are stored. 

Continuous Discovery Workflow 

The platform continuously monitors Instagram content through scheduled scraping processes running on Digital Ocean infrastructure. 

Newly discovered content is processed automatically, allowing event intelligence to be generated without manual review.
