Usman Ashraf is a Principal Data Architect at Data Prism, where he helps growing businesses turn messy data into clarity and action. He builds resilient data systems that scale — and over seven-plus years as a senior data engineer he has scaled startup and SME data infrastructure from $1M to $100M ARR. Most notably at GrabJobs, where he built AI-driven job-application automation, and Committed Coaches, where he built the operational data and AI systems running a 1,000-member sales team.
His path into data is unusual. After a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering at NUST in Pakistan, he won a Fulbright Scholarship to Georgia Tech, where he completed a Master's in Bioengineering — moving fluently between biology, business, and code. That cross-disciplinary instinct still shapes how he scopes a problem: understand the underlying mechanic first, then build the smallest thing that produces signal.
At Data Prism he focuses on the work that compounds for clients: production-grade web scrapers, cloud architecture on AWS, AI integration, and automation that removes operational drag. He writes about pricing, performance, cost optimisation, and the engineering decisions behind every engagement.
