Client

Hannibal Hills is an audiobook narrator and producer whose work includes narration and full-service audiobook production. His professional services also cover audiobook editing, proofing, and mastering.

Audiobook production also involves identifying books that have the potential to perform well in audio. Finding suitable titles requires looking beyond audiobook availability and considering signals such as sales rank, reviews, ratings, and publishing information.

Challenge

Finding suitable audiobook opportunities involves researching Amazon titles individually. A book first had to be identified as having no existing audiobook version. Its commercial signals then had to be reviewed before deciding whether it was worth pursuing.

This required moving through Amazon listings and comparing information across many potential titles. The process became particularly inefficient when searches needed to be repeated for different categories, keywords, or qualification criteria.

The client needed a faster way to turn Amazon book data into a focused list of potential audiobook projects while keeping the research accessible through an existing WordPress workflow.

Key Issues

  • Books without existing audiobook versions had to be identified individually.
  • Commercial indicators were difficult to evaluate efficiently across large numbers of titles.
  • Repeated Amazon searches made prospecting slow and difficult to maintain.
  • Different searches required flexible criteria for categories, keywords, rankings, reviews, and ratings.
  • Potential opportunities needed to be organized in a form that supported quick review and follow-up.

Solution

A custom prospecting system was developed to automate Amazon book research and qualification. The workflow collected book information, identified relevant opportunities, applied configurable criteria, and returned structured results through the client's WordPress environment.

Amazon Book Data Collection

Amazon book data was retrieved through the Amazon Business API and Apify. This provided the information needed to evaluate prospective titles without collecting individual book details manually.

Audiobook Opportunity Detection

The system focused on identifying books that did not already have an audiobook version. This transformed a broad Amazon search into a more relevant prospecting pool for audiobook production opportunities.

Configurable Prospecting Filters

Users could refine searches using category, keyword, sales rank, reviews, and ratings. These controls allowed prospecting criteria to change according to the type of books or commercial opportunities the client wanted to investigate.

WordPress Prospecting Interface

The workflow was integrated directly into WordPress so searches could be performed through a familiar web interface. Search results were presented in a structured table rather than requiring information to be reviewed across separate Amazon pages.

Structured Opportunity Review

Each result included key book information and a direct link to its Amazon listing. Sortable results and pagination made larger prospect lists easier to review while preserving access to the original source when further investigation was required.

Key Deliverables

  • Built an automated workflow for collecting and organizing Amazon book data.

Results

Centralized Prospect Review

Potential audiobook opportunities could be reviewed from a single WordPress interface instead of being managed across separate Amazon searches and research notes.

Faster Title Comparison

Structured tabular results made it easier to compare prospective books against one another. Relevant publishing and market information were available within the same view.

More Focused Prospect Lists

The system returned opportunities that met selected business criteria rather than presenting an unfiltered collection of Amazon titles. This gave the client a more practical starting point for deciding which books deserved further attention.

Shorter Path from Discovery to Outreach

Qualified titles were presented with the information needed for further investigation and direct access to their Amazon listings. This made it easier to move from initial discovery into business-development activity.
